All-Solid-State Ion-Selective Electrodes: A Tutorial for Correct Practice

The research on ion-measuring devices has seen a rapid expansion in the last years as consequence of growing interest wearable sensors for biofluids analysis and portable remote or in-line water food quality monitoring. As result, an increasing number researchers is approaching field ion-selective sensors. Despite apparently simple transduction principle, theory behind their working mechanism far from trivial correct understanding necessary optimal exploitation technology. In current literature, imprecise characterization procedures lead to definition misleading parameters, which cannot be effectively used comparisons. fact, some unique definitions applies this category sensors, significantly differ traditional ones applied sensing research. This tutorial aims at highlighting basic thermodynamic experimental practice accurate reproducible potentiometric ion-sensors. most important requirements design considerations hardware software interfaces will also discussed give complete overview various aspects technology people promising area sensing.
